In short: The games store your progress only on your phone. There is no account, and we run no server for the games. The games are free and show ads from Google AdMob. Whether information on your device such as your advertising ID may be used and personalised ads shown to you is your decision in the consent dialog; you can change it at any time in the game’s settings. Leaderboards run via Game Center (Apple) or Google Play Games. Your right to object is highlighted separately in section 13.

1. Controller

The controller within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for the games Corporate Climber and Fly to Friday for iOS and Android is:

Sprint Zero UG (haftungsbeschränkt)
Wienburgstraße 23
48147 Münster
Deutschland

Represented by the managing directors Thomas Kraaibeek and Niklas Feldmann.
Email: apps@sprint-zero.de

Further details are in our legal notice (German).

2. Your progress stays on your device

Everything you achieve and set in the game is stored only locally in the app’s storage on your phone:

  • Progress: your best scores, the number of runs played, your bonus account (in-game currency), unlocked and selected characters and outfits (wardrobe), your progress on goals and daily tasks (“Today”) including your streak; in Corporate Climber also your highest career rank and the daily best and attendance streak of the Daily Shift
  • Settings: music, sound, vibration, language and, in Corporate Climber, the controls (touch or tilt)
  • whether you have bought “Remove ads”, once this purchase is offered (see section 6)
  • your choice in the consent dialog for advertising (see section 3)

This data is not transferred to us. This means we can neither see your progress nor restore or delete it for you. Storing it on your device is strictly necessary for the game to keep your progress and settings (Section 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG, the German Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act). In addition:

  • no user account, no registration
  • no server of our own; you don’t need an internet connection to play
  • no analytics or statistics services of our own and no tracking of our own
  • no location requests (GPS), no access to contacts, photos, camera or microphone

The games only connect to the internet for advertising, including the consent dialog (Google, section 3), and for leaderboards (Apple or Google, section 5); once the “Remove ads” purchase exists, also for that (section 6). Links and “Report an ad” open your browser or your email app (sections 10 and 11).

Device backups

Like the data of other apps, your progress is part of your device backup if you use one: on iPhone in iCloud Backup or a backup on a computer; on Android in the backup in your Google Account and in a direct transfer to a new device. You set up and control these backups yourself in the operating system settings. They are stored in your Apple or Google account, and Apple’s or Google’s terms apply. We have no access to them.

3. Advertising with Google AdMob

When ads appear

The games are free and are financed by advertising. For this purpose, we integrate the Google Mobile Ads SDK of the Google AdMob service. For users in the European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland, the provider is Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland (“Google”). Ads appear in two ways:

  • Rewarded videos: only if you choose so yourself, for example with “Watch an ad · continue” to keep playing after a run ends, or to swap a daily task. If you watch the video to the end, you receive the reward.
  • Interstitial ads: occasionally between two runs, after the result, never during a run.

What data Google processes

So that ads can be delivered, counted and billed, the SDK sends data to Google, mainly when ads are loaded and shown:

  • identifiers of your device: on iPhone the advertising ID (IDFA), but only if you allow it (see below), and identifiers that only apply within one app or the apps of one provider; on Android Google’s advertising ID, unless you have deleted it, the app set ID and, where applicable, identifiers of accounts you are signed in to on the device
  • your IP address, from which Google can derive an approximate location
  • device and app information, for example device type and model, operating system and version, language setting, screen size, network type and the game’s name and version
  • usage and advertising data, for example app launches, which ads were loaded and shown, taps and clicks and whether a video played to the end
  • diagnostic data, such as the SDK’s crash logs and performance data like launch time, hang rate and energy use
  • your choice in the consent dialog

Which of this data Google uses depends on your choice in the consent dialog (see below).

Google uses this data to deliver ads, to limit how often you see the same ad, to measure the reach and effectiveness of ads, to detect fraud and abuse and, only with your consent, to select ads based on your interests (personalised advertising) and to build a profile for this purpose. Google may combine the data with other information it holds about your device or your Google Account. Depending on your choice, Google may also share data with further advertising partners; they are listed individually in the consent dialog.

We ourselves only receive aggregated reports from Google, for example how many ads were shown per game and country and how much revenue they generated. We cannot identify individual players in them.

Your consent

In the EEA, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, the game shows Google’s consent dialog (User Messaging Platform) when you first open it, before it loads any ads. This is a consent management platform certified by Google under the Transparency & Consent Framework (TCF) of IAB Europe. There you decide whether and for which purposes Google and the listed advertising partners may store or access information on your device and process your data, in particular for personalised advertising. You can also refuse everything; the games then work just the same. To find out whether it needs to ask you, and to load the dialog, the game retrieves your consent status from Google each time it starts. Google receives your IP address and technical information about the device and the app in the process.

On iPhone, the game then asks with Apple’s dialog (App Tracking Transparency) whether it may track your activity across other companies’ apps and websites; if you refused everything in the consent dialog, this question is skipped. Only if you choose “Allow” there does the SDK receive the IDFA. If you refuse in either of the two dialogs, your refusal applies.

The SDK stores your choice on your device so that the game doesn’t ask you again every time it starts and can pass your choice on to Google and the advertising partners.

If you don’t consent

If you refuse personalised advertising, the game still shows ads, but without personalisation:

  • Non-personalised ads: If you have agreed to information being stored on or accessed from your device, Google delivers ads based only on context, such as the game and your approximate location. According to Google, it then uses the advertising ID and other identifiers only to limit how often you see the same ad, for aggregated reporting and to prevent fraud.
  • Limited ads: If you have not agreed to that either, Google shows so-called limited ads. According to Google, these disable all personalisation and all features that require an identifier on your device; the advertising ID is not used. Your IP address is still needed to deliver the ad to your device.

Legal bases

  • Storing and accessing information on your device by the SDK, in particular the advertising ID, for personalised and non-personalised ads: your consent under Section 25(1) TDDDG (formerly TTDSG).
  • Personalised advertising and the related processing by Google and the advertising partners: your consent under Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR.
  • Non-personalised and limited ads, measuring ad delivery and preventing fraud, where you have not given consent for this: our legitimate interest in offering the games free of charge and financing them through advertising (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
  • Retrieving your consent status and storing your choice in the consent dialog: Section 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG and Art. 6(1)(c) in conjunction with Art. 7(1) GDPR (obtaining and proving consent).

You can withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future (section 4). You can object to processing based on our legitimate interest (section 13).

Google’s responsibility

We are responsible for integrating the SDK into our games and for data being transmitted to Google when ads are shown. Google carries out any further processing as an independent controller, under the Google Ads Controller-Controller Data Protection Terms. Google explains how it uses data from partners’ apps at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites; everything else is in Google’s privacy policy.

Transfers to third countries

Google also processes data outside the EEA, in particular at Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA. Google LLC is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, so transfers to it are covered by the European Commission’s adequacy decision of 10 July 2023 (Art. 45 GDPR). Where it does not apply, for example for other countries, or if it ceases to apply, the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses apply under Google’s Controller-Controller Data Protection Terms (Art. 46(2)(c) GDPR). Google provides details at business.safety.google/adsdatatransfers.

Retention

How long Google keeps the data is determined by Google (how Google retains data). According to Google, it anonymises advertising data in server logs by removing part of the IP address after 9 months and cookie information after 18 months. Your choice in the consent dialog remains stored on your device until you change it or delete the game.

  • In the game: Settings › “Privacy settings” (in the EEA, the United Kingdom and Switzerland) opens the consent dialog again. There you can change or withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future. Processing carried out before then remains lawful.
  • iPhone: Under Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking, you allow or block tracking for the game or for all apps. Without your permission, the game does not receive the IDFA.
  • Android: You reset or delete your advertising ID in the Android settings under Google › All services › Ads (on some devices under Settings › Privacy › Ads).
  • Google Account: If you are signed in to Google, you can also control personalised ads from Google in My Ad Center.

5. Leaderboards (Game Center and Google Play Games)

The games’ leaderboards don’t run on our servers but on Apple’s Game Center (iPhone) or Google Play Games (Android). Where the game offers leaderboards on your device and you are signed in there, it signs you in to Game Center or Google Play Games when it starts; Apple or Google may show a notice when this happens. After a run, the game submits your result (score) to the leaderboard at Apple or Google, in Corporate Climber after a Daily Shift also to the daily leaderboard, and retrieves your rank to show it to you. Apple or Google stores the result together with your player profile (player name, profile picture and a player ID) and shows it to other players in the leaderboard, depending on your profile’s visibility settings.

The provider of Game Center is Apple Distribution International Limited, Hollyhill Industrial Estate, Hollyhill, Cork, Ireland; the provider of Google Play Games is Google Ireland Limited (address above). Both process this data under their own responsibility and privacy policies: apple.com/legal/privacy and policies.google.com/privacy. Data may be transferred to the USA in this case too; according to Apple, it relies on standard contractual clauses for such transfers, and Google relies on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

We do not store leaderboards ourselves. We see our games’ leaderboards as they are shown to other players, and we can manage them in Apple’s and Google’s developer consoles, for example to remove obviously manipulated entries.

The legal basis is our legitimate interest in offering you leaderboards as you know them from other games with Game Center or Google Play Games (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). You can object to this at any time, most easily by signing out.

If you don’t want to appear in the leaderboards, don’t sign in to Game Center or Google Play Games, or sign out: on iPhone under Settings › Game Center, on Android in the Google Play Games app. The games then work just the same, only without leaderboards. You manage results already submitted and your player profile with Apple or Google.

6. Purchases (“Remove ads”)

We plan to offer the one-time purchase “Remove ads” in the games. Once it exists, the following applies: purchase and payment are handled entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play), under their own responsibility and privacy policies: apple.com/legal/privacy and policies.google.com/privacy.

Your payment details go only to Apple or Google. The game only learns from the store whether the purchase exists and remembers this on your device. “Restore purchases” asks the store about your purchases again.

From Apple and Google we receive sales reports without names, email addresses or payment details. Google Play’s reports include, for each purchase, an order number, the device model and the buyer’s country, region, city and postcode. We use these reports only for accounting and tax purposes and keep them for as long as German commercial and tax law requires, as accounting records for eight years (Section 257 HGB, Section 147 AO; Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR).

7. Sharing your result

When you tap “Share”, the game creates an image of your result, such as the termination letter in Corporate Climber or the timesheet in Fly to Friday, and places it temporarily in the app’s cache. The operating system’s share sheet then opens. Where you send the image is your choice, and the terms of that service apply. We receive nothing. The image only contains information from the game, such as score and character.

8. Sound, vibration and controls

The game generates music, sound effects and vibration on your device. No data is processed or transferred in the process.

In Corporate Climber, you can choose “Tilt” as the control method in the settings. The game then reads your device’s orientation and motion sensor during a run, on the device only. The sensor values are neither stored nor transferred. On iPhone, iOS may ask for your permission for this.

The game calculates the level of Corporate Climber’s Daily Shift from your device’s date. No connection to us is needed for this.

9. Crash reports

The games contain no crash reporting service of their own. For the diagnostic data of the advertising SDK, see section 3. In addition, Apple and Google provide diagnostic data to us as developers under the following conditions:

  • iPhone: Only if you have turned on “Share With App Developers” in the iOS settings under Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements does Apple share anonymised crash reports and diagnostic data with us.
  • Android: Google Play may provide us with anonymised reports about crashes and “app not responding” errors (ANR, Android vitals) if you have agreed on your device to send usage and diagnostics data to Google.

These settings are controlled by Apple or Google, and you can change them there at any time. The reports contain technical details such as device model, operating system and app version and the program state at the time of the error. We use them only to fix errors. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in games that work without errors (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

The links to this privacy policy and to the legal notice in the games’ settings open your browser. “Report an ad” in the settings opens your email app with a prepared message to us (see section 11). If you tap an ad, the advertiser’s website or store page opens. Only then is data such as your IP address transferred to the website concerned, whose privacy policy applies. For our website sprint-zero.de (server log files, visitor statistics with Plausible), see the website’s privacy policy (German).

11. Contacting us by email

If you write to us, for example at apps@sprint-zero.de or to report an inappropriate ad, we process your email address, your name (if provided), the content of your message including attachments such as screenshots, and the technical metadata of the email (e.g. time of receipt) in order to handle and answer your request. The message prepared by “Report an ad” contains the game’s name and the time; you see it before sending and decide yourself whether to send it.

The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR where your request relates to the performance of a contract or to steps taken prior to entering into a contract; in all other cases Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, our legitimate interest being to answer your request.

We delete your data as soon as it is no longer needed for this purpose, unless statutory retention obligations (in particular under commercial and tax law) prevent this. Our mailboxes are hosted by ALL-INKL.COM - Neue Medien Münnich, Hauptstraße 68, 02742 Friedersdorf, Germany. Incoming emails are processed on their servers in Germany. We have concluded a data processing agreement with ALL-INKL.COM in accordance with Art. 28 GDPR.

Answers to common questions are on the support pages for Corporate Climber and Fly to Friday.

12. Retention and deletion

How long data is kept is stated for each type of processing. In summary: progress, settings and your choice in the consent dialog remain on your device until you delete them. Google and Apple decide how long they keep data (sections 3 and 5). We delete emails once your request has been dealt with and no retention obligation applies (section 11), and sales reports once the statutory period has expired (section 6).

You delete your progress and your stored choice in the consent dialog by uninstalling the game. On Android, you can also use Settings › Apps › (game) › Storage › “Clear storage”.

This does not cover device backups such as iCloud Backup or the Android backup (from which Android may restore your progress when you reinstall the game), your entries in the Game Center or Google Play Games leaderboards, and data Google has already received for advertising. You delete or manage those with Apple or Google; you reset your advertising ID as described in section 4.

13. Your rights

With regard to personal data concerning you, you have the following rights against us:

  • Access to the data we process (Art. 15 GDPR)
  • Rectification of inaccurate or incomplete data (Art. 16 GDPR)
  • Erasure of your data (Art. 17 GDPR)
  • Restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
  • Notification of recipients about rectification, erasure or restriction (Art. 19 GDPR)
  • Data portability (Art. 20 GDPR)
  • Objection to processing (Art. 21 GDPR, see below)
  • Withdrawal of consent with effect for the future (Art. 7(3) GDPR), in the game under Settings › “Privacy settings”

To exercise your rights, an informal message to apps@sprint-zero.de is enough. Please note: we do not hold your progress, which exists only on your device; it is under your control. You can also exercise your rights regarding data that Google and Apple process under their own responsibility directly with them.

Right to object under Art. 21 GDPR

Where we process your data on the basis of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest), you have the right to object to this processing at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation. We will then no longer process your data unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds for the processing which override your interests, rights and freedoms, or the processing serves the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims.

Where your data is processed for direct marketing, you can object to this at any time without giving reasons (Art. 21(2) and (3) GDPR).

Right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR)

Without prejudice to any other remedy, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, in particular in the member state of your habitual residence, place of work or place of the alleged infringement. The supervisory authority responsible for us is:

Landesbeauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit Nordrhein-Westfalen
(State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of North Rhine-Westphalia)
Kavalleriestraße 2-4
40213 Düsseldorf, Germany
www.ldi.nrw.de

14. Security and further information

Security and recipients

The games transmit data to Google and Apple only in encrypted form (TLS). On your device, progress and settings are kept in the app’s storage area, which other apps cannot access. Personal data is only received by the recipients named in this policy. Google, Apple and ALL-INKL.COM are subject to the GDPR for the data of users in the EU and must therefore protect it at least as described in this privacy policy; with Google, the Controller-Controller Data Protection Terms also apply, and with ALL-INKL.COM a data processing agreement. The same applies to advertising partners you consent to in the consent dialog.

No obligation to provide data, no automated decisions

You are under no legal or contractual obligation to provide us with personal data. You can play the games in full without consenting to personalised advertising and without leaderboards. We ourselves do not engage in automated decision-making, including profiling, within the meaning of Art. 22 GDPR. With personalised advertising, Google selects ads automatically based on a profile; this has no legal or similarly significant effect on you.

Children and young people

The games are aimed at adults and are not intended for children. The age rating in the stores (for example USK or PEGI) only states from what age the content is considered suitable. Anyone under 16 can only consent to personalised advertising with their parents’ approval (Art. 8 GDPR); in that case, please refuse in the consent dialog.

Changes

We will update this privacy policy whenever the games or the legal situation change. The version published here applies. This English version is a translation; if it differs from the German version, the German version prevails.
